There are so many things to try at Fine Gift Soaps. I could spend alot of time on their site. I had the pleasure of trying several of their products. In it was Thymes Lavender Home Fragrance Mist, Thymes Eucalyptus Body Lotion, Thymes Wild Ginger Bar Soap Set, Thymes Olive Leaf Tripled Milled Soap, Thymes Ambersweet Orange Hand Cream, Thymes Naia Foaming Bath, and Thymes Red Chere Body Wash.

My favorite was the Naia Foaming Bath. I mean I will probably continue to buy this line in the future. I loved the Ambersweet Orange handcream as well. The entire Thymes line made me feel so pampered and relaxed, just like I had been at a spa. I was honestly impressed with this line as well as how long each item lasted. I can not think of a single mom that would not love the products FineGift Soaps has to offer. There is something for everyone on this site from Candles to Baby and even men. Joy of Soap Review and Giveaway

So everyone is getting into the all natural feel of things. There are just so many chemicals and additives in anything now days; you never know what you are using.
The Joy of Soap was created as a result of my many years spent traveling for work, which can be fun and exciting but hard on your skin. I always had trouble finding soaps that were not full of skin-drying chemicals and ultimately decided the way to get the finest possible soap was to start making my own using natural ingredients and old fashioned craftsmanship. From this The Joy of Soap was born.

All  soaps begin with a base of olive, coconut, palm and castor oils, and are mixed with delicious fragrance oils. Some of our soaps also contain therapeutic grade essential oils, an exfoliant and/or a natural colorant. Soaps are hand cut so the exact weight of each bar may wary slightly. They come packaged in a small burlap type sack and are great for adding to any pampering Mother's Day gift basket.

I was lucky enough to get to try All Night AlmondPerky Peaches, Elizabeth's Wild Hair Shaving Soap, and Two in the Shower Tea Tree. To my shock I was also sent a very neat black soap dish which is sitting on my bathroom sink. I have to say the Elizabeth's Wild Hair and the Tea Tree are my favorite. My husband loves the tea tree too. The perky Peaches sits at my bathroom sink and I have gotten several compliments from guests. Joy of Soap charges $3.50 for 2oz and $7.50 for the 5oz bars.

Joy of Soap will also be launching there Scrubs, Cleansers, and Creams lines this spring so be on the look out for these. Want to learn more about their Green Commitments and keeping things natural, head over here and read up on it.

Affordable Mother's Day Gift Ideas~ Guest Post

Mother’s Day is a special time for Mother’s, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be an expensive time for her children and husband. Every year when Mother’s Day rolls around, most Mothers truly are more concerned about the thought behind the gift. Most women will love a creative, affordable Mother’s Day gift as much as they will love a more expensive one. Here you will find some suggestions for gifts you can give your mother or wife to show her how much she means.

The first thing you will want to do when choosing your gift is to think about what your mother really loves, or possibly needs. Does she help you build snowmen in the winter? You should consider picking up a lovely scarf and matching hat. Does she collect a certain type of porcelain, dish or other figurine? Those can be found online, often at discounted prices. Maybe your mother loves to curl up with a good book or a mushy movie. Ask her what her favorites are, and consider adding to her collection.

Ebay and Etsy are both sites online where you may find the perfect gift. Antiques like depression glass and carnival glass can be found on Ebay. While some pieces will prove to be quite expensive, you will be able to find a variety of others that are just as unique, but quite inexpensive. Etsy.com sells handmade items and would be a great spot to find your mother a one-of-a-kind purse, hat, scarf or sweater.

Gift cards can be a great gift, provided they still show that you put some thought into it. Does your mother reminisce about her first date with your father at a certain restaurant? A gift card to that spot can be the perfect way to show your love.

Finally, never underestimate the power of home made cards and poems. Even if you are not a natural poet, this can still work for you. Simply review poetry sites online to find one that best suits her. Use that poem in a handmade card, giving credit to the original poet. Add a personal message and you are guaranteed to make her heart melt with joy.

Creative, affordable mother’s day gifts are available both in stores and online. With any of these choices your mother will recognize that you invested a great deal of time into finding her the perfect gift. And that will prove to be the greatest gift of all.

CowGirl Chocolate Review and Giveaway

Who does not like chocolate. Find me one mom who doesn't and well.... she does not like chocolate. Truth be told 99% of people love the stuff and CowGirl Chocolates is one of the finest around. When I think of gift giving especially for Mother's Day, chocolate is one of the first things that come to mind. So I did what I do best; I contacted CowGirl Chocolates and asked them to be a feature on It's All about Mom Event.
I was sent a wonderful gift by CowGirl Chocolates. I mean is that not what it looks like to you? (pictured Left) Inside was, 1/2 pound of your favorite truffles in a mixture of Mild Mannered Truffles, Spicy Truffles and Habanero Caramels, heaven in a box. Now I will say right off the bat I am not a spicy chocolate kind of person. Those specific ones were gladly eaten up by my Mother- In- Law and Husband. Let me just say they got the mom approval! Now the mild truffles were all mine and boy did I savor them. I ate one a day and it did me in for the chocolate fix. My two favorites were the Mild Double Chocolate and the Mild Ivory Orange Chocolate. My only disappointment (other than when they were gone) is the fact that the Hazelnut only comes in Spicy.
I would love to belong to the The Cowgirl Chocolates Chocolate-a-Day Club but I don't know if I could keep it to only a day; these truffles are so good you will throw your inhibitions out the window. If only they could literally send you one truffle a day!

WIN IT: CowGirl Chocolates has graciously offered One Lucky reader to win a 1/3 Pound Sampler of their own. Price:$12.95
Our 1/3 pound Sampler comes in a red corrugated box with a ribbon, "western" style button and our signature logo gift card, includes a taste of all our flavors (including habanero caramel) so you can tell that special someone how you feel no matter what the season. Remember "Love is a many splendored thing..." especially if it includes Cowgirl Chocolates!"

Jorndan Essentials Review and Giveaway

So a few months back I did a review and giveaway for Jordan Essentials. If you don't remember it then head over here to check it out. Kelly is great and when I approached her to do another review and giveaway she quickly responded yes.
Kelly sent me the Happy Feet Retreat + Pedi Stick to review for Mother's Day. As a mom I am on my feet non stop running after a 4 year old and a 9 month old. My feet get very little pampering and so this was a nice treat.  Soft, beautiful feet in one easy kit. Set Includes: Mini Peppermint Dead Sea Salt, 4 fl. oz. Peppermint Body Butter & Peppermint Salt Scrub, Blue Pumice & Peppermint Pedi Stick. The peppermint smell is so pleasant and calming. Everything helped make my feet feel relaxed and rejuvenated. My husband will sometimes rub my feet when he is home and the Body Butter worked wonderfully.

I can't think of any mom who does not need some tender loving care when it comes to her feet, or any part of her body for that matter. This Mother's Day Jordan Essentials will take care of mom. They have things to fit any budget and the greatest thing is that with their products a little goes a long way! I had never heard of these products before doing the first review but I can honestly say I am a customer for life. I strongly suggest you check them out for this Mother's Day gift buying. Mom will not be disappointed!

WIN IT: Kelly has graciously offered One Lucky reader to win a Happy Feet Retreat + Pedi Stick RV $32.00 of their own.

Alexa's Angels Review and Giveaway

I'm inspired every day by the people around me – my family, friends and neighbors in my community. If my designs bring people closer, I've accomplished what I have set out to do. There is nothing more important in life than connecting with the ones you love and cherish.

~Beth Lang, President and CEO, Alexa's Angels

This is how Beth Lang feels and what help create Alexa's Angels. Head over here to read more about the story on how this company began and what it stands for. I think in this day and age we need all the positivity and encouragement we can get. I love that about Alexa's Angels jewelry because that is what each piece delivers.
I mean one look around their products shows you how distinct and uplifting each piece is.

Angel Wing Necklace - Gold

22484 Make wishes come true with an Angel Wing Necklace. Crafted of 18K Gold-Plated with the word “BELIEVE” etched on the top of the gold shell. Lobster claw closure 27” with 3” extender.

 Definition Flip Necklace - Family

22705 Define yourself with our Definition Flip Necklaces. Center coin spins for versatility and fun! Rhodium/18K Gold-Plated. L
Many Hearts One Family® Necklace
15926

Rhodium/18K Gold Plated. Lobster claw closure. 16" w/ 2" extender.

I was sent this beautiful necklace to review. I have to say the quality is much better then I could have imagined. The pendant itself has a little weight to it and I like that. I have not noticed it moving and laying weirdly on my neck. I like that because in the summer time I tend to wear shirts that have more of the 'V-neck' and if a pendant does not lay correctly it can look very funny. I also love that it is like having two necklaces in one as I can simply flip the pendant over and decide if I want a heart or family tree to show off. I think what shocked me more than anything is the price. $35.00 Is such a fantastic deal and so I truly think this would make for a fantastic Mother's Day gift.

WIN IT: One Lucky reader will win a Many Hearts One Family® Necklace of their own .

My Courageous Mom~ Guest Post

A lot of people can say their moms helped them grow up. How many people can say that their moms helped them grow up twice?
I have to give my mom a lot of credit- she had to raise me not just the usual way, from birth through toddlerhood, but after I had a brain injury at fifteen she had to do it all over again. With a disbelieving and largely incoherent teenager!
After my brain injury, my mom helped me go from a coma to learning everything from how to walk, talk, to tie my shoes. She also had a job, a husband, and another teenager at home. I often think of what courage it took to go to the hospital every day and face a daughter who didn’t even know who she was. I didn’t believe my mom was actually my mom until I came home from the hospital, two months later. The simple task of putting food on the table is hard enough as a parent, sometimes, I now know, let alone completing the myriad household tasks that largely fall to moms. I can’t imagine how she did it.
It was a long and difficult recovery. I had a lot of setbacks. One of the biggest was when the insurance agents came to our house to assess my injury. My mom had to sit there and watch two people go down a list of the things I would never be able to do: hold down a job? No. Have a family? No. Learn to drive a car? No. Live by myself? Maybe, but probably not. She has since told me how excruciating it was to watch her dreams for her child die.
But she never lost faith in me. She supported me as I struggled and graduated high school, went to college, got married, and had my own family. I beat the odds. I think a lot of it was the unflagging support of my courageous mom.

KGeddes Creations Review & Giveaway

So while looking for sponsors for 'It's All About Mom' I ran across this cute little shop on Etsy. KGeddes Creations. She has the cutest jewelry; all hand made.
I was sent the Crystal and Peal with Copper Bracelet and Earring SET. Faceted round pink crystals with pink and plum colored glass pearls. I have accented with copper.

Bracelet measures about 7-3/4" long not including the toggle. I have added wire wrapped beads at the end for a charm.

The earrings measure 1-1/2" from the top of the copper wire to the bottom for the glass pearl.

When my set arrived it was packaged in a beautiful gift bag, ready to give to mom. I immediately put it on. My husband commented how pretty this set was~ That's all I needed... he never compliments. This piece will work perfect for everyday wear but is gorgeous enough for those special occasions. The only con I can find is I had trouble putting the earrings in as the post are a tad bigger then my normal earrings. This only meant I had to work a little harder the first time I put them in. All in all I can honestly say when wearing this set I feel pretty!

I wanted you to know a little more about this fantastic shop owner so here is what I found out:

1)When and Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I discovered Etsy just after Thanksgiving 2009.  I found Etsy to be a wonderful website and want to try to sell more jewelry, other than just friends and family, so I can continue my passion of creating.

2) What's your favorite piece of jewelry you make?
I don’t have a particular favorite as I love it all!

3) Are there any challenges you face to do what you love?
It does become sometimes a challenge for me to do more intricate work such as cluster or grape type earrings as I have neuropathy in my hands.  It just requires me to take more breaks and does take a little longer to create.  But, it's all worth it!
4) What are your favorite things to do when your not working?
I enjoy my two teenage kids and my husband.  I also have exotic cats that I also really enjoy.  All 6 of them seem to keep me entertained for hours!  I also like to read, surf the net for other jewelry designs, garden and paint.
5) Whats your favorite memory of your mom?
I sadly lost my mom in 2007 to Alzheimer’s Disease.  My mom was a very creative person.  Throughout my childhood, she made all of my clothes, did cake decorating, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and any other thing that was popular to do at the time.  She would take me with her to many of her classes she was in and always go to the local craft store together.  I learned many things from her, but just don’t seem to have the patience for anything that takes too much time.  I seem to be a person that needs quick gratification.  I guess this is where jewelry and painting come in.  I now continue this tradition of creativity that my mom so graciously shared with me, with my 14 year old daughter.  She is very creative and now loves going to the craft stores with me.

WIN IT: One Lucky reader will win a  Crystal and Peal with Copper Bracelet and Earring SET.

Show Yourself Some Mommy Love~ Guest Post

We have a tendency as moms to make sure everyone else's needs are being met often in lieu of our own.  Making sure hubby has clean underwear (that is probably the only thing that is clean in the laundry room) and that the kids are fed a healthy breakfast (whether that is pancakes or Trix depending on what you can get your children to eat) often takes precedence over us taking more than five minutes to ourselves.

Here are some ways to show yourself some mommy love:

1. Smell a favorite scent.  For some reason just the smell of my favorite perfume provides a lift.
2. Light a candle and sit and watch the flickering flame.  There is something soothing about just taking a few minutes to do nothing. It can be restorative.
3. Exercise.  It will get your adrenaline flowing.  Your muscles and heart will thank you.
4. Read a book.  Get lost in another world and forget about your to-to-list.  Okay, reading an entire book may not be realistic but read a magazine cover to cover in one sitting or even the newspaper.   If you have forgotten what that is like, your not alone.
5. Take a nap.  Who couldn't use a midday snooze (especially if the kids are out for the count to).
6. Forget the laundry, the dusting, and the toilet bowl that needs to be scrubbed.  Strap the kiddos in the stroller and go window shopping.  Or, if your stuck at home, lock yourself in a room and go window shopping online.
7. Dress up in makeup and heels and treat yourself to lunch, even if it is at McDonald's with the kids.  At least you'll feel sexy sitting there in Playland and you'll be the best dressed momma there.
8. Go for a drive.  I love to drive in the car even with the little ones in the backseat.  The monotony of driving seems to get my creative juices flowing.
9. Meet up with some friends.  There is nothing better than enjoying the company of other women.  It's even better if there is wine involved.  Again, if your snowed in you can conference your friends on the phone and chat or have your own little twitter party online.
10. Take five, or ten, or an hour to write on your blog.  It doesn't matter if your ranting, raving, or reassuring it is good therapy for whatever ails you.  Ask any mommy blogger.
11. If you enjoy crafts, take time to devote to your crafty side.  Finish that project that you put aside.  For me that would be my scrapbooking.
12. Do a puzzle or a crossword to exercise your mind.
13. Pick a movie or your favorite TV show and sit through it uninterrupted.  Let your hubby watch the kids and be in charge of their nighttime routine.
14.Take a class.  Check out the offerings at the local Y, a nearby community center, or the local community college.  Broaden your horizons.

At least one of these things is guaranteed to take you to a happy place. Best of all, they are all free or relatively inexpensive ways to shower yourself with some "mommy love".  Afterall, you deserve it.

The Daughter-in-Law Rules Guest Post and Giveaway

Sally Shields, author of, The Daughter-in-Law Rules, offers advice for remaining on good terms –– and happy –– with your mother-in-law!

So, you’ve just stepped off the bus–do not delay! For daughters-in-law of any age, here are five simple techniques that anyone can use to get immediate results towards a peaceful and loving relationship with your husband – and his mother!  It is always important to remember one of the greatest spiritual laws of success: the quickest way to get what you want is to help others get what they want. Be a loving, kind, generous, openhearted sensitive person and the world will reflect that back to you, even in the form of your Mother-in-law!  Let’s begin.

1. Send Your MIL Cards and Flowers on her 3 Special Days

Mark down the three biggies – her b-day, her anniversary (if she has one) and Mother’s Day in your date book.  But here’s the secret –– get your husband to pen the card or Mom might get the impression that her son has forgotten her special days (he probably has)!  So consider yourself a great ghostwriter and have him sign it from the both of you.

2. Call Your MIL Regularly

This seems like something that would be best left to your sense of spontaneity, but do not take this lightly.  Pick a day of the week (such as Sunday) to call your new Mom– preferably when your husband is not around.  If you are super busy, you can aim for getting her machine like when you know she’s at Bingo, but leave a message saying that you just called to say hi and to ask how she is feeling!

3. Ask Your MIL for Her Advice – Frequently!

But if  you prefer,  keep your matters on the inconsequential side such as what color to change the shower curtain to in the guest bathroom.  But then actually do it, so that when she comes over, she’ll be proud that you followed through!

4. Tell Your MIL What a Great Job She Did as Mother

This is a proactive strategy that works like a charm. It will most likely bring her to tears and that is great!  Just remember that someday you too will perhaps raise a son and can you think of a more wonderful compliment that that? Surely not!  So, speaking of compliments …

5. Compliment Your MIL’s Looks–Often!

Remember, your MIL can be just as self-conscious as you are.  So take the time to notice how pretty, thin, healthy and young she looks, occasionally asking her if you can borrow a certain  item of clothing, such as a scarf or a purse. She’ll feel just great that you like her style!
